Strange Noise

Hi Guys,

Right i know this might seem mad as I am a techie!!! but there is a stange noise coming from my PC and it sounds like its coming from my chip. Its like a processing noise....... Now i thought CPUS are not supposed to make a sound, or is this something specially to I7's?

When in games, it occurrss and cuases a stutter to the game. Its like a high pitched hum, like its processing something.....

I have elimated the fans and the hard disk etc.....

Any ideas??

High pitched hum eh? Could be a capasitor about to pop. Look for bulges on them on the board.

nothing obvious....

thinking it could be the power supply as its all in the same kind of area.............. would that cause a performance issue though???

nah, could just be the fan spinning harder, as the cpu is getting hotter?
