hi my pc has started making a strange noise, according to hwinfo my pump speed has dropped since the noise started, could my aio be on the way out, it's a be quiet silent loop 280

it 9 months old, I left the pc overnight to see if it would help but as soon as I turned the pc on the noise started immediately, who do I get in touch with to return it, can I get my money back, what CPU AIR COOLER can I replace it with, my specs are

case: corsair 400q
mem: team group dark pro

I'm not sure what best way to deal with warranty is. If you bought it here at OcUK they might RMA it as credit toward a different cooler, but I would not be surprised if they wouldn't do it. Easy way to find out is call and ask.

Corsair 400Q has 170mm CPU clearance.

Team Group Dark Pro is cc 45.6mm tall, but PCB cover can be removed making them 37mm tall. That translated to about 32mm above CPU or 40mm above motherboard .. low enough most coolers will clear it.

This all translates into determining if a 140mm fan over RAM with cover removed will fit it will be a very close fit if it fits at all.
Best bet would be to do a physical measurement from top of motherboard tray, top of motherboard or top of RAM without covers.
Motherboard tray to case is cc 16mm more than from top of CPU.
Top of motherboard is cc 8mm more than from top of CPU
RAM socket raises RAM cc 3mm.
What motherboard do you have? Helps to know to tell what coolers will clear nearest PCIe socket. ;)

One of the best deals at the moment is NH-U14S for £52.99. With it the front fan will fit behind RAM, but it's fin pack is 75mm center CPU toward PCIe sockets.

NH-U14S definitely has good cooling and low noise. It is in the 'less the 3c warmer than very best' group, and with a rang of +/- 1c to 2c variance in test results, one of the best mounts, one of the best customer support and one of the best fans that puts it in the 'best coolers' category .. down side is they arebaby-poo ugly .. like all Noctua coolers. ;)

MB: Gigabyte K5 z270
Nearest x16 PCIe socket is 89mm from center of CPU. No cooler is big enough to block RAM.

What do you want from an air cooler?

I'm using a Silent Loop 280mm in one of my systems and have been sense first released and have had no problems at all. I have tested many CLCs on test benches adn in systems .. couldn't get them out of systems fast enough!! The Silent Loop is the only AIO (it is not a CLC) I have used and I really like mine, but I got it as a gift and would spent the money to buy one unless case was to small to hold an air cooler that would give similar performance.

I want something that will cool as well if not better than the silent loop, GPU is a Gigabyte 1080 extreme gaming premium edition

thanks for the help, will the u14s fit with or without cover removed, I'm unable to measure myself, that's why I'm asking

NH-U14S will clear your RAM. It is only 52mm center CPU to front of fan and RAM is about 55mm from center CPU to near side of RAM socket.
1 last question is the d15s fittable if yes is it worth the extra, I want coolest possible
NH-U14S will do the job just as well as NH-D15S .. or so little difference you won't be able to measure it. Both cool as well as Silent Loop 280 does.

If you want the best I suggest the TRUE Spirit 140 Power or Archon IB-E with TY-143 fan. But it will be louder when you run the TY-143 above about 1500rpm, especially above 2000rpm .. and you will need more case airflow to keep up with TY-143's 130 cfm airflow demand at 2500rpm. TY-143 fan is as quiet as NF-A15 or any quiet fan below 1500rpm. It only gets loud at extreme speed. ;)
