Since other people use my computer, I tried to set the user information in Word 2003 to blank values so that it wouldn't stick my name on everyone else's documents (through Tools>Options>User Information). However, for some reason, however many times I change it, it defaults back to my name as soon as I press 'Ok'. I have no idea why it's doing that and it's driving me crazy! I've searched online and it seems that what I've been doing _should_ have worked! Anyone have any ideas why it isn't?

Just out of Interest rather than leaving blank just put in a full stop to see if will allow you change it.

But otherwise it may have to be a reg hack

Why not just use different logons on the machine itself.

Given that this is EXACTLY the purpose of them.

Very valid point.

Otherwise the only other way I can think of is to unistall Office and reinstall it and make sure this time you leave the user information blank.

office 10 beta does not install windows xp 64bit

TYPICAL MS BS!

i tried the x64 and x86 versions, supports windows xp but no xp 64bit, makes you think they do it on purpose ?

windows XP x64 hasn't been an officially supported OS for quite some time. it was only ever released as a tech project anyway.

do you really expect microsoft to work hard to make sure complex software works on an OS that only about 20,000 people in the world have installed?

Thanks for the suggestions everyone, Crazymonk's idea worked: I changed it to "Default User" instead of leaving it blank and it FINALLY stuck! Looks like Office 03 doesn't like blank fields for some reason.
