Ok so I have been playing around with my overclock again

I was running my E6600 at 3.1ghz quite happily and the g.skill hz ram at stock speeds (4-4-4-12 T1 800mhz)

That worked fine, passed ram and cpu stress tests all day long

But I have found as soon as I push past this, say to 3.2ghz, 3.3ghz etc it all falls apart.

According to Orthos its the ram... even tho this is running at stock speeds and passes memtest
It passes all the CPU stress tests fine, but when you include a ram stress test it freezes after a few minutes
I have tryed increasing the ram voltage to the max safe 2.2volts but this has no effect

How can my ram be holding back the system when im overclocking the CPU, i am using a divider on the EVGA board so the ram is staying at 800mhz

But that should not matter, or does it?

Like i said its running at stock and its the cpu im overclocking not the ram, I wouldnt expect it to fall down at stock speeds just because the processors is running faster

Just tried 5-5-5-15 T2 at 3.2ghz and it crashed on orthos ram test again after a minute

could it just be orthos its self causing the problem?

What if I increased the FSB voltage?
would that help?
Its currently at 1.2v but can go to 1.3v and 1.4v
