right strange one here i have a P4 3.0 533fsb chip but when i install it in a motherboard (tried 2 diffrent ones supporting 533-800 fsb) its shows up in General system as a P4 3.0 but only 1.60 Ghz, any ideas. It came out of a Sony vaio (not a laptop but the all in one system) which says its a mobile P4  any ideas

does your board support multi unlock?

i've got the same problem with a P4-M 2.0 that only runs at 12x multi so i have to increase the fsb but then it will only boot at max of 133 so it reads as a 1.6

i know its not much help to you but at least you're not the only 1 :(

Most desktop boards can't deal with the speedstep technology so default to the lower multiplier of the cpu, in this case 16 so thats how you end up with a 1.6GHz cpu.
:)

It defaults to 12 x 133 I believe.
