Strange password lockout scenario

Am hoping someone can help me - I moved recently and had trouble getting a machine on my network talking again (it's a special printer server for work, using embedded XP).

I changed a couple of the network settings (can't remember exactly as I was changing things on 2 machines) but what I think caused the problem was in system properties>computer name. Think I changed the computer name and workgroup...also clicked 'network ID' button and went through Join a Workgroup wizard.

Following the requested reset, the machine now has a login screen (never had before) - the username is "operator" but I don't have a password. Leaving it blank doesn't work, typing administrator in username field doesn't work. Tried booting to safe mode, but login screen still comes up. Also tried 'last known good config', still the same.

Currently trying to boot to DOS from a USB, but struggling with that - can anyone help? :o

Try typing MACHINENAME\Administrator and then the password. Where MACHINENAME is the name of the machine.

Thanks Quartz - that didn't work though. But after a lot of messing around (trying to get ERD commander to work) I managed to reset it with Hiren's Boot CD.
