Hey,

I have recently swapped out my old p5n-e sli mobo for a new p5q pro in order to properly overclock my q6600 without any frustration ;), but when i power my pc up, the front leds will turn on, the fans will start spinning, and half the time it'll shutdown before the asus logo appears, and it'll sometimes reboot by itself and then continue on to windows without any problems. I have tried at stock speed and volts, but it doesnt seem to make a difference and I've checked the mobo power connectors and all the other leads, but I cant seem to see what the problem is, can anyone help?

thanks a bunch, my specs are below:

asus p5q pro
Q6600 G0 (3.4ghz)
arctic freezer 7 pro-applied with AS5
2x2gb crucial ballistix pc2-6400 (400mhz)
asus 8800GT 512mb
samsung 500gb HD501LJ
Samsung 750gb HD753LJ

Welcome to the Forums :)

Providing you have both 4-Pin and 24-Pin atx power connected then you will need to check the PSU is supplying the correct voltages and the rails aren't dropping.

You can use a multimeter to check this.

What PSU have you got?

Other than that, strip you system down to only what it needs i.e. one HDD, 1 stick of RAM etc. and do some basic diagnostic checks, like running memtest86+

You may have to swap the memory over and repeat the test.

are all the motherboard stands screwed down properly ?

have you tried loading with 1 stick of memory in different memory slots ?
