I've recently put together a new system. Asus P8Z77-V, 3570K, 8GB low voltage Vengeance, 1 Samsung SSD, 2 WD reg HDD, Geforce 560ti and a power supply from 2008, 625W Enermax Modu 82+.
I want to basically run it with the iGPU and take the 560ti out as it's surplus to my needs. But the strange thing is that without the 560ti in the slot the PC won't turn on. The fans spin for half a second like it's trying to switch on then it just dies. I've set iGPU in the BIOS and it works fine but the 560ti must be in the PCI-e slot, the extra power cables don't even have to be connected to it.
Is the power supply too old? It's an ATX 2.3 spec and the board says it must be 2.2 or later so I'm a bit stumped! The 8 and 20 pin power cables are both in the board.
