Hi all,
got the rest of my new build delivered from ocUK today (thanks guys) and put it together tonight - quick spec
965p-ds3 rev 3.3
e2180
Tuniq Tower
2gb geil ll6400 (2x1gb)
+ from my old DFI NF4 rig
x1800xl
JEANTECH - 600W Arctic ATX2 PSU
all went well and I turned it on to install xp on my new HD - the machine booted fine .... Then I decided I needed to shut it down - I held the power switch (which I had just used) nothing happened - eventually I had to flick the switch on the psu manually. Now the power switch only seems to work sporadically and only to turn on the rig if at all - it also has turned itself on several times - but again once on it refused to turn off - when it is on if I get in the bios and alter anything when I quit and restart it just hangs - fans run - screen enters power-saving but nothing...
I've check the following things but to no avail...
- checked and rechecked and rechecked the power switch pin-out - removed all others etc...
- checked the 24 & 4pin atx connectors
- removed all fan pwr except the cpu
- removed all usb devices
- checked the 6pin pci-e connector
- tried with only 1 stick of ram
I've never seen anything like this before - I would be surprised if it was my psu as its been rock-solid with my DFI SLI-D and KAB1E @ 3ghz for months and that was certainly using more volts.
To be honest I'm struggling to diagnose what this is - I don't think it can be the other components as when it boots it runs perfectley.
What are your thoughts? - has anyone seen this before? - do I have a broken MB? or do I need a new PSU?
any advice would be much appreciated - there might even be a paypal pint in it for you
thanks for looking
