I have my 360 connected to me PC via ethernet and the connection on the PC shared using ICS but whenever I'm connected to live, I lose connection on my PC. Has this happened to anyone else?

It was working fine in halls but now I'm back home and the PC is connected to a router this keeps happening.

would i be right in saying at the halls you'd connect up via ethernet cable then another ethernet cable would come from the PC to the Xbox? or how was it connected up there?
as i'd hazard a guess at your PC is running ICS so it will be giving out IP addresses etc to share the internet connection, and it wont be able to access the net unless the 360 is unplugged?

at uni I had my PC connected to an ethernet outlet and I would then share that connection via ICS. Then I would connect another cable from another NIC to the 360 thus accessing live through my PC.

Now when I try this at home, my PC always drops its connection when I connect to live via ICS. The PC is connected via router.

why dont you just connect the 360 upto the router aswell instead of going via the PC? or does it not have enough Network Ports?

If you are connecting it to your PC you need to create a Network Bridge so that you can use live and the Internet at the same time.

The router is pretty far from the 360 and I only have 1 cable long enough.

I'll try the bridge idea, thanks.
