I have just replaced a router (ADSL) for a friend and every now and again they cannot access web sites. Emails are still being sent and received and I can access their PC with Logmein which I use a lot. If when this happens I log into their PC remotely then connect to their router and restart the router web pages are again accessible.
If the problem was port blocking or a firewall issue I don't understand why it works for several days then goes wrong and then just a router restart clears things up.
Can anyone help. The router is a Belkin Play Max but the same thing happens with an old D-Link unit.
The complete setup they have is a WHS looking after their data and backups, two desktop PC's on wired ethernet and a couple of laptops using wireless, every PC including the server is affected when things go wrong.
Any thoughts on how to investigate would be useful too.
