Recently I've been messing around with some old parts I've put together to make another system. I'd had a few problems with blue screens, but solved that by increasing the ram voltage.
Once it was stable and I had windows update going and SP3 all installed, I noticed that Kaspersky wasnt connecting to the update server. I have a 3 machine license so I checked on my main system and its all up to date and working fine on that one.
I thought it might have got corrupt in one of the many crashes I'd had before I got it stable, so I decided to re-install it, but again it couldnt connect to even activate it this time.
So I decided to check my internet settings, but I thought it must be a bit strange if windows update can connect and kaspersky couldnt. I then found that internet options was missing from my control panel. Through explorer it claimed I did not have admin rights.
Confused, I try logging into safe mode as administrator and its exactly the same. So, have I got some kind of virus on there already? I havent done anything other than install updates and drivers on it, so I'm a bit confused how its got on there.
Could it be from a mates computer on the wireless network? I wouldn't trust either of them to have safe computers.
PK!
