For the past few nights I've been using my old desktop to back up some media files to disc to free up some HDD space....

The problem is half way through the PC cuts off and I have to take the fuse out of the plug and put it back before it will boot up again  any idea's why its started doing this no hardware changes have been made and the same for software nothings changed in quite some time.

I cant see what that's going to do unless the fuse is arcing and getting blown out of it's holder.
If it is the case, you have a problem.
Needs a nice short or a loose fuse holder.

I wouldn't mind betting that leaving it unplugged for the same time as removing / replacing the fuse has same effect.

If not, have a good look at the fuse holder contacts and try another fuse.
Fuse end caps can come loose, but it would still maybe need a load to make it not work.

Take care here.

PSU on the way out perhaps? How old is it?
About 6 weeks old

I ended up trying a brand new lead and now its not done it all day, hoping it was just a dodgy lead. Strange how it was only happening on the same prog each time ....

Thanks for your replies
