Strange problem with ATI 5850

I just bought a sapphire 5850 from overclockers and am experiencing a weird problem.

When I boot my computer I get a series of 3 clicks from my internal speaker, this happens 7 times and then the system boots as normal. This exact same thing happens on every boot.

I have reseated the card, I have reseated and changed the memory, I have checked cables etc.

When it is running I have no problems at all with the graphics card it performs really well.

What I want to know is should I return the card or do you think this problem is not a serious one?

i have had what sounded like speakers clicking in the past but it turned out to be a powersupply that was on its way out

what psu do you have?

I have the Corsair 650, it's around 18 months old.

If it were the PSU, would it play games with everything on full, all day long without problems?

I unplugged the internal speaker and the clicking sound stopped, that's the only way I could be sure it was coming from the speaker.

I recall this problem has been mentioned on these forums before atleast a couple of times but I don't recall the outcome of the threads.

It is strange how the boot up never changes from 3 clicks, 7 times, then the usual beep and it boots as normal.

I would have sent it straight back if it wasn't for the fact that when its running it is running so well.

oh well if you have confirmed its the speaker then its a different problem to what i had :)
have you tried updating the bios on the motherboard? maybe its a known issue that they have fixed

There is one more bios above the one I already using but it says its to add support for AMD3. If it were the bios wouldn't many more people be having this problem? I really didn't want to flash unless I must.

I was hoping someone may have already experienced this and have a answer, but the problem does seem to be a rare one.
