Hi

Just wondering if anyone else has come across this. My dad has a Focus 1.6 Auto Hatchback with central locking. When at a standstill with foot on the foot break, you choose drive from the gearbox, when you lift your foot of the break, the boot lid is released. This doesn't happened at speed when you break and release it for example, only when standing still or barely moving.

Has anyone else encountered this?

Found this on google quite a few pages in.

The problem is most likely a fault with the body control module, which controlls all these functions, it is not a reparable item, they often play up, and disconnecting the battery of the car for 30 mins can reset them, the other option is reprogramming by ford, but not all of them can be reprogrammed.

There are companies that can re-condition them, but being quite modern are quite difficult to find, they are usually the same companies that repair ECU's for cars.

Are there any implications of disconnecting the battery? Such as things that might need setting up again?

Yeah thats what im thinking was the only thing but wasnt sure. We have the code so that shouldnt be a problem.
