Alright i'll keep this pretty short, basically i have an Acer Aspire One netbook which i used to take to college with me every day. Unfortunately it got bumped about a bit in my bag and developed an issue where the screen would randomly flicker, however the problem could often be temporarily resolved by moving the screen about.

Eventually the screen stopped working altogether and for the past couple of years it hasn't displayed anything. When the power button is pressed, the screen backlight comes on and for a quick moment it flashes white as the operating system boots up. I have plugged the netbook into a monitor via the VGA output and can see everything fine.

The first solution i tried was to replace the LCD cable which runs from a socket on the motherboard, through the hinge to the rear of the screen. There's also a part in the cable where it branches off to the webcam and microphone. But this replacement didn't change the screens behaviour in the slightest so i gave up with it.

However earlier this month i found another LCD cable for this netbook in an online action, so i placed a bid and won it for 99p with free delivery. I thought the other cable may have been damaged so took a chance on this other one as it was so cheap. But the cable arrived today and unsurprisingly it didn't solve the issue.

What else could be causing this problem? It's such a shame to see a great little laptop like this going to waste, i'd really like to get it working again and install my Samsung 840 EVO to give it a massive boost. Any suggestions?

Many thanks!
