Strange problem with power

I recently bought a new pc which is running perfectly, but now I've decided to set up the old system in another room of the house. However there's a problem, after setting it up and plugging everything in I switched on the power supply ready to boot. Only it powered up by itself, and now the power button and reset switch, which worked perfectly fine before are no longer working.

There is no display coming through to the monitor either when I bout up, all connections are fine.

Any idea why this is happening? There was nothing wrong with the PC before.

First thing that sprung to mind was that your front panel connectors have come out of the motherboard. I had a similar prob once. Open it up and have a look. I'm curious.

Thanks for the suggestion, doesn't seem to be a problem with the connectors. All seem to seated nicely enough and can't see anything wrong with the wire either. I've tried a different PSU and Case and its the same problem.

Was wondering, if this is the case is it likely to be the Motherboard?

By coincidence, this is exactly how my PC is behaving. I've swapped in known working video cards on AGP and PCI with no resulting video and there are no BIOS beep codes with no cards or memory plugged in at all, so I'm reasonably happy that the motherboard is borked.

Yup, managed to get a hold of another 939 board, placed all my components in, set the motherboard up in my current case and all POST's fine.

New motherboard on the way. Cheers for the help guys :)
