Hi,

I have a strange problem that is when I switch off my machine and then switch it back on lets say.....10 seconds later, I get blue screens when booting into windows and my memory fails the memtest diagnostics.

If I then switch the machine off for 30 minutes or so and then switch it back on, it works flawlessly?

My system runs great the rest of the time and my memory passes memtest without a problem, it's ONLY when I shut down the machine and then switch it back on without leaving 5-10 minutes inbetween power on and power off. It even reboots fine the rest of the time. My all important specs:

E6600 (Stock)
Gigabyte DS4
X1900XT (Stock)
Corsair XMS2 PC5400 (Voltages have been checked and raised and the timings are correct)
Tagan 580W PSU (Voltages are fine)

Any ideas? :o

is the memory in the correct slots?

have you tried reseating the RAM...

try the pc with 1 stick of RAM and then shut down and reboot or restart whichever, if upon re-boot the computer does not run through the memtest diagnostics then it could mean a) the second stick is faulty or b) now try the second stick of RAM with the first stick - meaning you have 2 sticks of RAM inside your PC, reboot and see if the memtest diagnostics screen appears, if it does then either a) the RAM sticks are in the incorrect slots or b) perhaps one stick of RAM is faulty...

good luck...

I don't know but, aren't you supposed to wait 30-seconds if you shutdown the machine to power it on again?

No errors when you restart, right?

Well I'm still having this problem, so I apologise for bumping this old thread. I'm certain its the power supply now as games run sluggish then crash, then the entire machine powers off and then turns itself back on again. Does anyone else have any other ideas as to what it could be?

I've also noticed that the link light on my router, indicating my network cable is plugged in, is no longer lit when the machine is off, when it was before. The first time this happened was a few days ago and since then I've been getting more and more strange problems.
