Strange Problem

Hi, if anybody could help me with this it would be much appreciated.

Today I received my order:

I put it together without any serious problems, got it up and running and was happy playing away on it for about 5-6 hours.

Then a strange sound came from the case like a wire in a fan, so i hard shut it down and pulled away the wire i thought it might of been, rebooted to be told that my CPU was unworkable. Then I rebooted and not only was my CPU unworkable, but I had no keyboard.

After reseting CMOS a few times and setting BIOS to 'Optimized Defaults' (worked better than failsafe for some reason) I can now get in to Windows again.

However, every now and then the computer just powers off.. No warning or anything, just turns off.

Does anybody know what might be causing this?

Double check all your connections - take them out and put them back in again.

Which PSU?

I have tried the connectors now, lets see if it makes a difference...

The PSU is te one that comes with the case, EarthWatts 500W.

There is not a loose screw behind your motherboard is there?

Nope, thought about that..

The HDD isnt properly installed in to the case, but that wouldnt make a difference would it? Its just resting on a drive bay.

If it's just powering off then it's going to either be a bad PSU or something shorting somewhere.
