Strange Problems with Display Port and HDMI Cables

Hello Friends

I recently built a new case and added the AMD Radeon RX 6700 10GB graphics card from my old system, which I thought was still sufficient for me. However, when I plugged the display port cable I had between the new case and the monitor, no image appeared on the screen even though I selected the display port output on the monitor.To solve the problem, I bought an HDMI v2.0 cable and connected it between the case and the monitor, and the screen did display. However, I have two problems...

1. Why is there no display on the screen when I plugged in the Display Port cable after the case upgrade, even though I'm using the same monitor and graphics card? Would using a different Display Port cable solve the problem? If so, which brand do you recommend?

2. When I plug in the HDMI cable, the maximum screen refresh rate is 60Hz. The maximum refresh rate is listed as 60Hz in the operating system's advanced display settings. Why am I not getting a 144Hz refresh rate option even though I'm using an HDMI v2.0 cable?

Thanks

From your screenshot you have this monitor?
Well that's HDMI v1.4 only. Although HDMI v.1.4 should theoritcally support up to 120Hz but I guess that does depend on the monitor's implementation. As in maybe your monitor only supports 60Hz on HDMI?

New case, or new PC? If merely a transfer into a new case, is the DP case full in so the prongs engage? Sometime I've seen the case metal PCIe expansion cutout get in the way. Or fro that matter are on the same DP card from the card as previously? A lot of 6700 had 1xHDMI and 3xDP but all DPs may not be 100% the same.

I trust you have installed the latest drivers for the RX 6700.

I'm guessing the DisplayPort cable is the one you had from your previous build?
You need to try another DisplayPort cable to rule out your existing cable - this is the simplest and most likely thing that is wrong. Can you borrow or buy one? They are not that expensive.
It could be that it's weakened since you last unplugged it and moved everything around.

@KompuKare

I will check my monitor’s HDMI port hz support...

It is a new PC supported with some parts from my old PC. Here is the details...

Old parts...

I completed the system by adding a 500 GB SSD (A-Data Legend 800), two mechanical HDDs (1 TB+4 TB) and an AMD Radeon RX 6700 10 GB GPU from my old system.

- About 6700’s DP and HDMI ports... As you stated, there are x3 DP and x1 HDMI ports. They are all accesssable and I tried all DPs several times but couldn’t get anything...

@darkblade

All mobo and GPU drivers are the latest ones and my OS is Win 10 v22H2.

Yes, DP cable is from my previous build. Visually, it seems intact but, as you recommended, I will try another one...

I guess to test your leads you could use the IGPU as your motherboard has both DP and HDMI 2.1.

For your primary monitor, this is only worth testing to see if there is any issue with leads. If you were trying to run a second monitor, running it of the IGPU can make sense (although it may reduce the max clocks of the CPU a slight bit as it would be sharing the TPU etc.).

You could later try turning the IGPU totally off in the BIOS but I cannot see that affecting the RX 6700; still nothing to lose there and there is a slight possibilty that at boot up it is somehow trying to use the motherboard DP. On HDMI, I assume you see the BIOS screen?

I have already disabled IGPU in the BIOS. No matter it is enabled or disabled, it is still 60 hz :(

Also, I am not trying run a second monitor...
