Im on the verge of returning a faulty psu to ocers, but wanted some opinions... My concern is that they wont be able to replicate the fault I am having...

I bought a new setup form them in May, i920 Bundle and Asus 4890.. the system seemed to work well, except that I noticed when the system went into sleep, that if I tried to wake it, all the fans would spin on full, including gfx, and not boot. Usually the fans will all spin on full fur about 2 seconds, then go slow, and system would boot.

This problem started to happen more frequently, and then nearly everytime I turned on the PC, all fans would spin up on full, but pc would not boot, no post, no monitor, nothing.. I could try to boot the pc several times with no joy, and only occaionally would it actually boot...

During one of these boot failure sessions, I swapped PSU's and system booted fine.. so I left the other psu in for a week or so, and it displayed non of the behaviour I had been experiencing.. I thne stuch the BeQuiet back in, and within a couple of days, the problem started again.. I could not boot my pc up at all.. same behaviour, all fans would spin, all lights on the motherboard.. Put other psu back in, and pc worked fine...

Over the course of a month, everytime I use the BeQuiet, within a couple of days, the pc would become unusable, and when I used the other psu, it works fine...

Im a bit worried OCers wont be able to replicate the same fault.. Its costing me £15 to send the psu back, and Ive asked for a refund as item is less than 6 months old...

UD5 are well known to PITA when going into sleep. Although your problem seems to be the psu have you tryed updating the bios to 9d/h worth a try just to rule it out?

Did 9d (i think) about 3 weeks ago on my spare psu, then put the BeQuiet one in, was ok for about 3 days.. then started misbehaving again... When at its worst, I cant even turn the pc on from a cold start, its not just limited to waking it up...

With my other psu, I have no issues whether thrying to wake up, or booting in general... I just know Ill go through all of the hasstle of sending it back, to be told.. sorry, we cant find anthing wrong!!

hmm is a long shot but try running the whole system at stock then if the problem is still there i would ring them, there must common ground for things that have intermitant faults you cant be expected just to live with it.
