Strange puncture

Discovered a strange puncture in my tyre this morning - no debris in the hole, hole looks small, but puncture is incredibly fast - you can hear the air whistling out of it.

I managed to get the tire inflated and limp the bike the 15 miles home, but it was totally flat again a couple of hours later when I went to go to work.

Possible faulty tyre? *1 It just seems really weird that there's nothing in the hole.

*1 Only had the tyre on the bike for 2-3 weeks

Yeah, going to ask the shop about a plug rather than a new tyre. Thing is I've got an MOT coming up soon and I don't know if a plug will be okay.

On a related topic, how often do other people get punctures? I always feel like I'm getting more than my fair share of them.

I never used to get them on the small bikes where tyres were cheap. Now that it's £100+ a pop, it feels like there's around 2 a year.

Got it patched, though warned to take it easy. Will go for new tyre on the upcoming service as I have a trip to France planned for September.
