Strange question, How to identify pci-e without opening the case

Its a valid question. Ive had people at work who are interested in a graphics card ask me this. I try to avoid going round to have a look. I get images of their wife and kids sitting there while i break off warranty seals! I usualy find if its a pre-built system like a Dell or something then just by googling the model number you can find a review of it which lists the motherboard.
 
i was just curious as people ask me on occasion (such as the one prmpting me to ask this question :P), usually i just look up the model on the web and see what it comes up with
