Right lets start off with this being my first post on the forums ;) So hello all :)

Sorry for the long post guys, try and decipher it best you can :)

Right - lets start with the specs

Motherboard : Gigabyte P55 UD3
Processor : Intel I5 760 (Overclocked to 4.8 GHz)
Cooler: Corsair H60
Ram : Corsair Vengence (8GB) ***It was OCZ Gold 4GB***
Graphics : AMD 6850
Sound : Xonar DX
HDD : 1TB Samsung F3 Spinpoint
PSU: 520 Watt Antec HCG
Samsung Blu Ray Drive

Right the problem is, the pc started to randomly restart - No BSOD just a message when i reboot that the pc just restarted from an error with no other informaton.
The first thing I did was virus scan, Spyware etc and then update all drivers and windows update.
I thought that may of worked however I was not too sure seeing as certain games (Metro 2033, Total war 2 and Battlefield 3) worked all fine but every so often would slow down to a complete halt then speed up.
I was not to sure what it could be but I tested power and is working fine, checked voltages all seem perfect even put all to stock speeds and it still had the same symptoms.
I then thought it may be the RAM (This is using the OCZ Ram) so i downloaded Prime 95 - this refused to run. I then tryed Memtest86 and got around 12 errors in the first 15 minetes then all hell broke loose I got around 65 thousand errors within seconds and it was rising QUICK.
I reseated the ram and tryed again exactly the same so I thought 'faulty ram' joy -_-.

I returned the ram and then said when they tested it they got no errors (they claim they tested i for 4 hours) so as Im speaking its on the way to manufactor's for a replacement.
Well this is the next confusing part, Ive just purchased off a friend some Corsair Vengence RAM he loaded up Memtest on his and showed me there is no problems with it and he was right not 1 error for around 6 hours but soon as I put it in my sytem in the first hour I got around 3000 errors on the RAM (but Prime 95 did not report any errors which i found very odd).

So you can see my dilema is my system just ruining the RAM or is there a fault elsewhere?

Any help will be very much appreciated :)

Thanks guys,

hOAx

I did Think that, however I not entirely sure about this but if it was a faulty slot then surely any RAM that I put in there will stop at the same point as the OCZ ram and rack up 65k+ errors or just not work at all and not register it.

I've had the H60 fitted for 18 days lol I will give it a try, I think I'm going to take it all out and rebuild it and rewire it all up again and see what happens :)

I adjusted the cooler, all seemed well till I had to restart the PC and it turned on, loaded up then restarted and told me that Windows had to shut down due to a unexpected error.

I did a Prime95 stress test for 6 hours through the night out of the 4 workers, 1 failed 33 min into it saying :

"FATAL ERROR: Rounding was 0.5, expected less than 0.4
Hardware failure detected, consult stress.txt file. "

That was on worker 3 that failed the other 3 kept on going and going and passing lol
