Strange request but Ive just got my motherboard back from Asus(P5K Premium Wifi) after a BIOS upgrade went belly up and the motehrboard wouldnt boot past BIOS, well wouldn't even show the BIOS screen.
Ive got an E8500 but initially I was attempting to upgrade the BIOS so it could use this CPU. I was using a Q6600 to do this. I dont have the Q6600 any more so I only have the E8500.
The motherboards green light stays on when everythnig is plugged in. WHen I power the machine up everything spins for a few seconds then the power light goes off and everything powers down. Then it automatically powers up and down in same fashion until I flick the PSU switch.
Is this because the BIOS cant take the E8500 or could it be another problem? I don't have a lower end CPU to test everything with so I was hoping someone in here would be from Liverpool and have an older CPU so the BIOS could be flashed or the mobo tested.
So does anyone have any ideas to why everything powers up then down then up then down etc Ive tested the PSU on its own and it works fine.
Very grateful for any help and especially if someone can flash the board for me in Liverpool/Huddersfield(this saturday/sunday only) or let me borrow a CPU, not for free if needed!
