Hi guys,

A strange resolution issue has appeared on my computer as of yesterday, and twice now it has done this weird thing. I couldn't tell you what I had done yesterday to make it do this strange thing, but today I had alt+tab out of The Sims 2.

I alt+tabbed out of the game to find my screen resolution much lower than normal. I have a 20" monitor with 1600x1200 res. I am playing Sims 2 at 1600x1200. So when I alt+tabbed out and went to display properties, I find that the highest resolution I can select is 1024*768. I couldn't then get back to the sims because it was trying to run at 1600x1200, but Windows obviously wasn't currently supporting that resolution.

Do you think this could be a graphics card issue, graphics driver issue, monitor issue, video cable issue? I'm really just interested to know *why* it's happening?

Any thoughts appreciated.

Thanks,

Michael.

Generally more a driver type of problem, If You switch out of something windows focus can get lost and with it gfx resolutions as opposed to a clean exit/close.
I Would think it's time to update Your chipset and GFX drivers and make sure when You game other apps and virus software are off etc

Sounds like your drivers have crashed and gone in to basic mode. Update your graphics drivers to the very latest, and any other drivers too.

I already have the very latest nForce drivers installed. I have tried reinstalling them and will see how I go.
