Strange speed increase

First off, hi all, I'm sort of 'long time listener, first time caller'!!!! :)

I was wondering if anyone can shed some light, or has expierenced this before..........When using Newsleecher, if I unrar something I have previously downloaded (whilst downloading something else), my connection speed rockets for some strange reason.
I'm on a 2meg connection via Karoo, so I get speeds of roughly 230-240KB/s, however, when I start to unrar that can go as high as 420KB/s and stay at that speed until the process of unraring has finished.

Idaes/thoughts anyone?
It's got me baffled, I need to find a way to make Newsleecher think I am constantly unraring!! :)

TIA

First of all welcome!

Hmmm sounds very strange.

If you are on a 2mb connection it is impossible for you to download faster than is physically possible. Makes me think something strange is going on.

Do the files that download at such a high speed actually work or are they corrupted/need repairing?

Sometimes i find i download 20meg files instantly but they are corrupt or missing files..

No idea how it happens, but what first replyer said ^^

3 Possible choices

1) When you are downloading the program downloading has messed up your avg speed

2) Your actually been moved to Karoo Max and so have a faster connection

3) Your Mad

Right then, the files that are downloaded whilst at an increased speed all work fine. I've not upgraded to Karoo Max yet as I was told my line couldn't support more than 3meg, go figure!
Must be option 3, I'm completely mad!

option 4 download is cached somewhere.

1. reconnect your router, connection to your isp
2. delete all temp files, cookies e.t.c do cleanups / defrags.

** not mad just the pc is :p
