Any help here would be appreciated.

I have a new build:
Intel i7-3820 (2011)
Asrock Extreme 6 mobo
16 gb 1600
HD5870
X-fi Fatality Sound
750w psu

Whenever the PC has been left to cool, I can guarantee the first boot attempt always stalls at the windows 7 logo. I then hard boot it and its fine. The first boot always seem slowed motion to. As though its really cold and needs warming up!

I am also getting windows messages saying I have a HDD about to fail. I have checked the drive and all seems fine. Could these be linked.

Again. Any help appreciated.

Wouldn't go near any motherboard auto overclocking feature. Revert to default bios settings (or reverse te changes made by the utility) and see if it's the same over time. If it isn't then overclock manually yourself - you can achieve much more desirable results and there'll be plenty of help forthcoming on this forum.

If it doesn't solve it then I'm out of ideas. Reverting to default with RAM in XMP profile should be your first step though.

Whats the make / model of the PSU?

But do have a go at manually doing the over clock.

Im gonna drop the overclock for a while see if that flattens the issues out.

I have an Xclie 750w modular psu.

Sata cables where my first check. Yes Im using 6gb cables.

Dropping the auto clocking fixed the stall on first boot.

HD prob still there but not causing any issue other than the occasional alert box. I am wondering if I need to move the existing sata2 drives to a seperate controller (the board has 2).

Sorry to go 'off topic', but what is wrong with using the motherboard manufacture overclocking programs?

I only ask as I've just built my system, and been using the asus turbodrive to achieve my overclock. It seems to work fine. What are the advantages or why would I be better off doing it manually?
