For the past few weeks I've had an odd problem with my PC in which it will lock up randomly when doing nothing really. When it locks up it really locks up. the audio loops so you just hear one tone from the speakers, the hard drive stops doing whatever it was doing and obviously the cursor and everything stops.

Ive noticed the lock-ups during the following tasks:
  • Streaming Video files from my PC to my Xbox 360
  • Launching an .exe file over the network (installing something from a network drive)
  • Online gaming such as TF2, CSS, WoW etc.

My System Spec:
Intel Q6600 Quad core CPU @2.4GHz
4GB (2x2GB) OCZ 800MHz DDR2 RAM
Asus P5KC Motherboard
BFG 8800GTS 640MB GPU
Samsung F1 320GB Drive (OS/Programs)
Samsung F1 1TB Drive (Media/Documents)
Hitachi 400GB Drive (Backup Software/Partition Images)
Enermax 600W PSU
Windows 7 Ultimate x64

Ive currently got no antivirus or firewall software as i thought this may be causing the problems, but i assure you I've got no viruses on my drives. The problem is caused when using all 3 drives, so it isn't a single drive that is causing the issue. I'm thinking the problem is caused by Windows 7 (although i hope not), it isnt my install as Ive freshly formatted and this still happens.

I read somewhere about incompatibility problems with Asus Motherboards and OCZ Memory, but ive not noticed this before a month or two ago, and its been running fine previous to this on Windows Vista.

So if anyone's got any ideas on what this could be, then please do enlighten me, as I'm completely stumped. Also if theres anything more you need to know to get this problem solved, just ask.

I would say drivers would be my first inclination. Try getting the latest P35 chipset drivers from intel and see if that helps.

im having abit of trouble finding the drivers for my Motherboard on Windows 7 x64. I've checked the Asus website and found nothing. ill update my GPU drivers and clean my PC completely and get back to you then.
