Just got a text on my phone, reads as follows.

Mr ***** *******, please call Mr Goldman at AIC on 01412283122 quoting reference 5408595

My scam alert is rather high at the minute, has anyone had a similar text before? Its not a premium rate number and they know my name. The text was also sent from the same number they give but i thought that was an english landline? Never heard of a Mr Goldman or AIC before.

AIC, I'm going to hazard a guess are a credit agency. Maybe you have bought something on buy now pay later or someone else has. Either way, if that's your real name then it could be important.

Im just confused as to why they would text me asking me to ring them and not just ring me in the 1st place. It probably is some debt collector knowing me though :p

TBH tell them to get lost by not responding.

If it's a debt collection agency they can send a proper letter or actually ring you.

Otherwise there's nothing there but a baited text telling you to call for an unknown reason.

I dont think i will respond, if they want something from me they can make the effort of contacting me properly. Found this btw http://www.aic-debt-collectors.dpcregistry.co.uk/ seems that if it is a debt collection agency after me i at least got the thick one :)

Ok bit the bullet and phoned the number, it was indeed AIG debt collection, i owe barclays partner finance £25... they never contacted me about it, apparantly it was a charge for a late payment that i was never notified about. All sorted now :) just glad it wasnt anything hugely expensive!

Thanks guys and sorry to fox for being a douche :p
