Strange thing just happened

I was just driving back home in my Golf Mk IV when all of a sudden my steering locked and my engine went dead and the battery icon lit up. Think the immobiliser may have kicked in? Luckily I was driving on a straight road at about 15mph so I could pull over easily. Restarted the engine and everything was fine.

Just called the garage and sending my car tomorrow to get it checked.

Made me think if I was going fast around a corner, I'd probably be in an ambulance by now.

This happened to anyone else?

Did you dip the clutch? The PAS should have had no reason to stop working otherwise.

I don't think so. Then again I can't really remember exactly. It's possible that I hit the clutch.

Steering lock shouldn't have come on because it's do with with the position of the key?

That's what I thought. But no. Electrical fault possibly?

I tried turning the wheel. It wouldn't turn at all. It locked about 5 degrees either way.
