I've just reinstalled windows xp pro (legit before you ask) because I had various errors like games closing, downloads corrupting, installation of programs failing, firefox closing etc. but I'm still having them.

Firefox closes all the time even after creating a new profile (was recommended on mozillazine), I just tried to download a driver which was corrupted, I then tried to load the BF2142 patch which came up with an 'update failed' error.

If I push the pc too much like running a virus scan and a spyware scan at the same time the pc quickly flashes to a blue error screen for 1/2 a second and then reboots itself.

System is a e6300 @ stock for now, P5N-E SLI, 8800 GTS, 2x1gb OCZ platinum, X-fi music oem, tagan power supply.

The only thing I can think is that I have a second drive that I didn't reformat and there may be things lurking on that, but an AVG scan doesn't pick anything up nor does adaware/spybot.

I have no idea what to try next ...

It could be overheating, a bad HDD, or insufficient power supply, but I'm going to point my first guess towards the RAM. Run Memtest. Try reseating it. Try swapping the slots in which you've inserted the modules. Try running just one module. Perhaps test the RAM in another machine.

I'd proberly say memory to, but you could try just unplugging the 2nd drive if you're worried it's causing problems.

ran the memtest from windows (not the bootable version) and I had 14 errors in the first second ... I think I may be close to the problem ... ;)

Edit 0.8% coverage 81 errors ... I guess this is going back then
