Hello,

I have recently installed a secound hard drive on my PC within windows on the desktop menu there is an icon that shows that something is plugged in VIA USB however when i click on it the icon shows the hard drive is this correct?

I have only seen that icon, in relation to hard drives, after installing the Nforce 4 storage drivers, and as I don't like many sys tray icons I no longer install that driver :D

No idea why your PC has just started showing it though.

Scort.

Are you talking about the wee gray and green icon by the clock that brings up the "Safely Remove Hardware" menu?

If so it's seeing your SATA drive as being removable. The SATA spec is designed to be hot-swappable. Some controllers do not implement this, however. You cannot remove the volume that holds *** partition on which Windows is running.

Is your drive SATA? Is it hooked to a controller that supports hot-swapping?
