Strange USB power issue

Hi Guys,

I've always had this issue with PC in sig. If I plug a powered USB device into any USB port, my screen goes blankfor a few secs then comes back. Doesn't happen with non powered devices like sticks or gamepads. Screen is via hdmi lead. Any ideas?

Can't say I've noticed on my X79-UD7, but I'll check tomorrow to see? I assume its the same with a USB printer? (As that's all I've got to hand)?

Are you running the latest BIOS?

Yes does it with my printer. Using BIOS F9b.

Hi mate,

Sorry for the delay in replying.

Just tried a printer USB cable (with printer switched on) and it acts normally, loaded the driver in, no screen flashes or problems at all.

I'm on the latest beta BIOS, 11... something, don't know if that makes a difference, maybe update yours and see how it goes?

If I update, will I have to redo o/c settings?

I think so yeah, but maybe save the current settings to profile and they should still be there, though not 100% sure as I updated before changing settings
