Strange Video Colours

Hey

Im trying to play a WMV-HD and for some reason (on all video not just HD) the colours are screwed up!?

The screen shot is of a HD video about dolphins and obviously the colours should be blue/cool but all the colours are coming out bright purple and pink, and mad colours like yellow that shouldnt be visable at all!

i've checked the software of the graphics card (catalyist 6.11) and checked all the settings in windows media to see if all the colour settings are right and everything is set to default (nothing even touches the strange effect that im getting)

Any idea whats wrong?

Codecs.

Lazy option would be to download and install the K-Lite Codec Pack, which will probably fix it.

Its either ya gfx gone/on its way out, or a codec prob.
Try k-lite mega codec pack (free)

I'd be very very very surprised if there is anything wrong with his graphics card

When my old 4200Ti was giving way all games and movies was showing with like a red hue on screen, but windows was fine, and seeing that pic reminded me of the same effects when movies was played

Or just play the files thru VLC. Worth a shot.

tryed the "full codec pack" arround 15MB and still the same, if its any help, the thumb preview in a folder appears correct (blue) whereas the acctual video is all orage and messed up colours...

the codec pack (full) did not work...

is the mega pack any different?

Try playing it in VLC media player as suggest above.

Download Windows Media Player 10 or 11 and it'll fix it

offspringy, i get exactly the same thing with WMV's but mine go green, I just play them in VLC instead.

Strange because my other pc is near identical to this one and runs them/all video fine with no strange colours

other pc is: 2.4 core 2 + 512mb ati x1900xt gigabyte GA_965p_S3

this one is 2.13 core 2 + 256mb ati x1900xt gigabyte GA_965p_S3 (strange video one)

Thats the only difference!?

Have you got Windows Media Player 10 or above because this problem occurs when you use Windows Media Player 9 to play certain files

odd, everytime I've had this problem happen to me its because I've forgot to download the latest media player after a reformat

I'm having graphics card problems just now (awaiting new one), a result of this is lag in video files played through MWP and Winamp. I've now downloaded VLC and they play fine with it! Odd, but I'm not complaining

You could also take a look at the ffdshow-tryout codecs, which are the same libraries that VLC / Mplayer etc use, but in codec form so you can still use WMP if you so wish.

I don't install any other codecs, I've not found I've ever needed to.
