yep, wait for nod64
i had nod32, exact same issue, from a completely working system without a single change it just would not connect to internet, IE/firefox not working, did all the usual stuff when xp has issues, disable/enable the network device, restart system and so on. then i noticed that even through 32bit IE windows update would still connect and download, then a few other things would and 64bit IE would.
after a while i uninstalled nod32 and everything started working fine. well actually that was the 2nd time, i've kinda forgotten what i did the first time around, hmm, actually it might have been a repair install, or no i did a restore point backup and it went to a working state again. 2nd time it happened i uninstalled nod32 and instantly without a reboot once all the process's were killed internet came back. a bunch of other people have had the same issue and a few of those people were reporting some very poor performance in some games and other applications.
i'm still trying to find a fully damn working virus app for vista as so far everything is utterly useless.
kapersky went from completely great to the supposedly user friendly newer version, but essentially they put in lots of big buttons, move around all the useful features and tried to make it easier for a moron to run, but harder to customize and run as you want. norton is norton and will never change from being bloatware, nod32 has major major issues and missed a few virus's, avast i tried and it had major issues too. it was killing internet speed and i was getting awful lag in online games. for instance CS:S i would usually get a great 5-8ms from london servers which was fantastic, i was hitting 30-50ms, disabled all monitoring of everything ni Avast and without reloading the game, changing nothing and it dropped back to under 10ms.
so looking around for trials for other apps at the mo, trend pc maybe, can't think what else there is.
