Strange Whirring Noise

I have just got a Bitfenix Windowed Shinobi USB3.0 from here, the fans are all connected up, the airflow is fine but I get like a whirrrring, i have no idea why, whether its the desk that the computer is sat in or the case itself, any ideas?? I repeat that its not the fans... I have tightened up the screws and its no different.

The ironic thing is I literally got this new case and spent quite a bit on it to eliminate this noise... That was the sole purpose of replacing my last case. To say I feel a bit stupid now is an understatement.. Please can someone enlighten me!

sorry what would that entail? It seems to be something to do with when I shut the cases, whenever they're open its not too bad. are there any techniques to do up cases properly that I'm missing here? any tips or tricks?

it would be if someone was dying off but seeing as the case is new i dont know if that would be the case really.

Try turn your pc on and listen to each part close to see if you can pin point the noise first then it might be easier to help.

Are the fan blades too close to the grills? That made a buzzing on my Fractal R3 when the speeds increased

its not a buzzing its literally a whirring that goes like this............whiiiRRRRRrrrr........... whiirrrrRRRRRRRRRrrr....... like that on and off gradually over a second or 2 all the time. Infuriating.

Case vibration? Happens to my case sometimes, a good kick sorts it out.

Seriously though, your best bet is trying to listen as closely as you can to all the components individually.

If that doesn't work your best bet is to try disconnecting as much as is safe (ie, not anything which is actively cooling) and then connect a single fan at a time up again and find out which one is whining/causing the problem. Once you know which fan is causing the problem you can try and find out whether it's dying or catching on something etc.

Thanks for the reply. Funnily enough it wasn't a fan, but your post gave me the idea to eliminate everything one by one. Turns out it's the mechanical hard disk drives creating the noise. I have 2 1tb Samsung Spinpoint 3's and 1 Seagate 500gb. They all seem to be creating whirring between them. I've tried dampening them with rubber bits so they fit better in the bays but the whirring remains. What on earth can I do?

So I've bungeed by 2 samsungs and its much better.. there is a slight whirring if I press my face up on the case but to be fair, that's being really picky. id say the noise loudness has gone from 10/10 to like 2/10, really impressive!
