hi guys

got 1 small file server box,1 PC, 1 laptop and a wireless router (netgear DG834GT)

all got XP pro SP2, all got same username/password,same workgroup, all connected to the router via wired. Never had any problem with browse shared files on the server by open run and type "\\servername\shared folder" and map network drive etc.

but recently i moved the laptop to kitchen so i started to use wireless, internet works fine, wireless connectivity work perfect but when i try to connect the server, sometime it says server cannt be found blah blah, tried to create a new map network drive, samething, sometime can see server but dont have permission to access the shared folder on the server. So i quickly plugged in the cable (long one!) and can access the shared folder without any problem.

i havent changed any users/password on laptop or server. didnt nothing apart from moving to wireless.

how would moving to wireless affect to access the shared folder in the server?

what can i do?

thanks

Sounds like your router is not bridging the wireless network with the wired one.

When you say 'connectivty works fine' is it just the internet? That would make sense since it is Wireless > Router > Out and never needs to touch your wired network.

Can you ping any hosts on the wired network with the laptop when its on wireless?
