Strange Xbox360 HD problem.

Finally got an HDTV today after much saving and the Xbox360 doesn't seem to want to co-operate.

All the settings seem to be correct, Component cables all in place, tv set to Game mode and little switch on the component lead set to hdtv.

However as soon as the options on the 360 are changed from 480p to 720p or 1080i the xbox just reverts back to 480p again.

It comes up in the right resolution whilst asking to keep the settings but as soon as Yes is selected it flickers and reverts back to 480p.

Can anyone help as i need some HD goodness!

My tv is a Samsung LE32R74BDX if it helps.

May have found the problem. It says HDTV output is disabled as the component cable is set to TV. However it is set to HDTV, do i have a busted cable or is there something im missing?

I know a couple of people here have had duff cables, it's certainly possible.
You do have the component and not the composite connected to the back of the TV do you? Stupid I know, but we all make mistakes

Lol nope ive checked them about 300 times

Looks like its a new cable for me then.
