Agreed. Although OP may have his wallet stung a year down the line when his lad wants pay to play at £4.50 a month
More votes here for any of the Civ series, Command & Conquer series.
Extra votes for minecraft, roblox etc.
Also KOTOR 1 & 2, or any of the Bioware adventures. Brilliant storylines and simple to play.
Trackmania is worth a try too for harmless (noisy) racing.
My lad about that age was also playing the first Dawn of War games - you can pick the collection up now for a reasonable price - especially if they are on a steam sale.
I think your stance is to be applauded, it does my head in when I find out my lad has been playing GTA round a friends house.
