Strategy games like C&C and Age of Empires

I'm looking for some games that are similar to C&C and AOE that aren't turn based like CIV and Rome Total War.
Has there been anything decent released recently?

CoH 1 is still better than 2, but 2 is improving as time goes on.

That's what I feared the amount of time I spent/wasted playing AoE1 and 2 in my youth was massive.

That's what I feared the amount of time I spent/wasted playing AoE1 and 2 in my youth was massive.

I still fire up it up occasionally for a LAN game with the missus, usually eats up a few hours! There are few mods out there that add different nations with different units, improve the enemy AI (like removing their cheating if it is anything above moderate) and up the populate limit to 500 units rather than the 200! Adds a bit of freshness to this classic!
