Strategy Games RTS

Looking for something to play really like the look of Total War games but I've never played them so would be a complete noob at them is there any games I should start on then build myself up to total war for instance.

Starcraft 2,for me,is the definitive modern day RTS outside of the total war games. I *think* the original SC2 is free now as well?

Dawn of war 2 and 3 are very good as well and 2 is base building-lite so it will ease you into it.

Dawn of war are they war hammer I like the look of them play wise compared to starcraft

Yes they are. The second one is more about managing a smaller team of heroes and the 3rd goes back to base building.

As for tutorials, every RTS game will have them. Grey goo is another decent one,as is company of heroes 2.

Dawn of War II is one of my all time faves, eases you into the story controlling smaller groups with minimal base building. Well worth a punt if your after a good RTS, cheap as chips too !

Think that's what I'm going to go for gunna watch some a YT vids on it first. Thanks guys

Me too bud, me too. It's a good starting point as you can get a feel for controls and gameplay styles before you need to worry about building bases and supply lines.

I have been playing Company of heros 2 brought it 4 years ago and played it for 30 mins lol, was so hard i give up but for some reson i reinstalled it 3 days ago and cant put it down, love the game online 4 v 4 comp stomp .

hard but fun when you play with some vets runs sweet

I'm still playing Command & Conquer 3. Most other RTS games have unit caps.

SupCom (first one) is good.

But playing an RTS won't really prepare you for total war games. You'd be better of with some lets play on youtube in my opinion if you think you'll struggle.

And I know I'm going out a limb here, but all TW games since MTW2 are garbage!
