Stray Blade releases tomorrow and looks interesting. From the youtube clips I've seen it looks like a cross between Kingdoms of Amalor, Ashen and Dark Souls. If the price is around the rumoured £25 range I will jump in and take a punt on this being good.

Until you mentioned it I wasn't even aware of its existence - will have to go and look it up now.

It has gone a bit under the radar with very little promotion. It had a beta demo on pc so there are a few YouTube clips with at least some information about the game.

Weirdly although the psn page says available on the 20th it's not yet available to download. The last time I had this problem was with Arcade Paradise and that became available at around 5-6pm, so I will try again later on.

I've just had a look online and it is now available on psn for £23 (this is a 1 week reduced price).

As soon as I'm back at home I'll download it and test it out.

I've only had a quick 20 mins before tea but it seems decent so far. It is as hard as nails though mainly due to my sloth like parry timing. I will update the thread when I've managed to play a bit more.

I played for a few hours last night. I'm a little bit disappointed so far with the combat - the parry timing window just seems too tight. The game also forces you to fight 2 or 3 enemies at a time, with no mechanic so far to separate them (sometimes you can backstab the first). The world, upgrade system and crafting all seem good and it runs at a smooth 60 fps. I'm going to carry on and see if I can improve - I do have the option to turn it down to story mode but I will soldier on for now.

I've played for about 3 hours this morning and the game has improved considerably. I crafted the pitchfork which was a game changer - high damage and long range. I can now confidently take on groups of 2-3 enemies and expect to win. Its certainly not a AAA game but its definitely a decent indy game.

Once you get further in you can get a bunch of really good weapons, upgrades and runes. The starting few hours are extremely tough but once the upgrades start flowing as you level up it gets much easier (still difficult).

I've played tonnes more of this over the weekend and I'm really enjoying it. I've unlocked an ability that let's me teleport to certain points (usually higher up). So in true castlevania style I've had to go back to all the earlier areas to hoover up all the previously inaccessible secrets. I gained access to an arcane forge which let me craft some amazing twin blades. I downed the first boss on first attempt although it was touch and go on low health. I'm really hoping the devs work on a sequel as its very good (other than the hard starting section).
