I'm liking the look of this case and have specced a reasonable system to perform day to day gubbins to whack in it, but I have come up against a stumbling block:

Why did Streacom put the ODD eject button on the wrong side of the case?
Is it just me or does that rule out using pretty much any of the available optical drives on the market?

Does anyone have any ideas around this peculiar issue?

By F7CB do you mean the F7C in black?

It is an annoying placement for the eject button. I have the same issue on my FC8 Fanless case. The Sony BD-5600S will fit perfectly and give BD support. I picked one up off ebay for £30. If you do this just watch you don't buy one without the eject button as some don't have the hardware switch, though I believe you could mod the drive and add one

I do indeed Cokecan, and hadn't realised Bluray drives were that cheap!
Thanks for the info, I'll have a look :)

Edit: Can't seem to find that Optiarc model anywhere :S

ah sorry, it should be BC-5600S. stupid fingers :p

EDIT: theres one on egay at the minutes for £25 in an external enclosure with no bids. If you got that you could take it out of the enclosure, take bezel off it and it would fit nicely in the Streacom

Thanks again Cokecan :)

It seems utterly retarded to have such a ludicrous design that stops 90% of DVD drives being used! Hopefully I can get around it though :)

Yeh not sure what they where thinking there as I have one of their older revisions and the eject button is in the centre

Found a few drives now, but none have the eject button. :(
It's not as if you can switch the front panel around either as its all one piece with the rest of the case

I may as well fit a standard drive and just eject from Windows, but that leaves a nice flappy button of uselessness. Awesome!

If it is the Sony BC-5600S that you've found without the button then I believe the PCB actually has the necessary connections to simply wire in an eject button yourself. My friend bought one off ebay too that was in an enclosure and after dismantling it to get the drive out we found that someone had added the eject button to it and taped some very thin wire in place that ran back to the PCB
