Ok so my bluray player that used to support AmazonPrime now doesn't and my PC is upstairs. Without the use of cables how is the easiest way to stream my PC screen to my TV downstairs. I've seen chromecast but is that pretty limited? Ideally I would want something that would transmit video and sound? Does such a thing exist that doesn't cost the earth? Can an Amazon Fire TV box be beamed images from my PC?

Thank you for any replies :)

Chromecast will do what your asking, using the chrome browser and some extensions. But everything depends on your wifi quality.

Your TV might already have dlna and wifi?

Devil is in the details.

What content are you wanting to play back? Is it just Amazon's video services/files from the PC/LAN? If so then buy a Fire TV stick, put Kodi on and you can stream via plugins all manner of content from the internet, play files from the LAN/your PC upstairs via wifi and have Prime on it. It's also a very inexpensive option.

Thanks for the replies - my bluray player has DLNA and my dad has a fire stick so I can look at both those options.

This 100 times over.

Streaming your desktop is kind of antiquated these days.

An Amazon Fire Stick (£35) lets you play your Amazon Instant videos, Netflix, YouTube, BBC iPlayer, the works.

Then install Kodi, as Avalon suggests, and you can stream any of the additional content you have on your PC.

It's been about 5 years since I've had a PC connected to my TV, and I've never looked back.

Also, remember that getting your video/audio to your TV is one thing. Controlling your PC from the other room is ANOTHER thing. So all the costs with setting anything up that you got to stream from your PC to the livingroom would have to consider the costs of buying wireless devices that you can control your PC with. Although saying that, there's plenty of WiFi enabled apps like HippoRemote that easily let you do this and work great.
