Stream live video

Hello I wasnt sure which section to put it under but was wondering if somebody had the expertise to advise me.

Could somebody just point me in the right direction as to the setup I would need if I wanted to capture a live video footage from a source and then stream it real time over the net?

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Are you looking for a professional solution? Or a home solution?

VLC Player has excellent streaming ability. Just press File> Stream. You can choose a capture card as a source.

I think most people use XSplit for real time.
