I could do with some help from you knowledgeable chaps.
Basic outline of what I want to be able to do is this:
I want to have a media store in a single location that I alone can access to update etc, and then two touch screen monitors which only have access to the media library through a simplified GUI (I was thinking XBMC or similar) but with individual access (so able to play different media at the same time) through a headphone port.
I also however would like the ability to play media from either through a centralised audio system.
There is a possibility of a third non touch screen (32 to 40") for just video playback that will also need to be able to access the media library.
So far, I have come up with the idea of either Ethernet or WiFi connected Raspberry Pi based systems for the touch screens as they should have enough grunt for playback of most things, but am unsure whether streaming multiple sources at the same time will be adequate?
I'm also assuming that the Rasp Pi set up would allow access to media on USB sticks without the risk of infection to the media server seeing as they're not connected apart from Ethernet/ WiFi?
As for the third screen, it will literally just be used for video playback, so am hoping there is a simple remote control based GUI available for that function as I can't imagine a 40" touch screen would be a good idea!
Can anyone tell me if I'm barking up the wrong tree here or there is an easier way of doing things?
Thanks
Andy
