Streaming audio online

Not sure if this is the correct forum but its audio related so here goes.

Im really interested in finding out about how you make your own internet radio station.

Does anyone know how to do it or where i could learn?

Is it just a case of finding some streaming software and inputting an audio channel into the software, from like the audio in from your soundcard?

If anyone could explain it would be really great.

Have you had a look here? http://www.shoutcast.com/support/docs/

Seems to be one of the easiest ways.
