streaming films around the house

hey guys im after some advice if possible please.
All of my movies and music is stored on a synology 8tb ds115j

I have a tv in the front room (55inch lg 3d smart tv)
Rocku 3 in the bedroom
4 pcs
1 xbox 360
1 xbox one
various tablets and smartphones,

Question is how do i get started with plex ?
do i have to have a dedicated plex server which i link all the content from my nas to plex ?
so all can view the content.

I prefer the way you can view info ect on films ect. and want it soo everyone in the house can view it.

will be streaming a min of 720p but mostly 1080p and alsooo some 3d in the front room. many thanks

i think i have got a spare q6600 8gb system soemwhere if that helps

It is likely to be a push installing plex on the NAS as the processing power probably won't be enough to do any transcoding, particularly if more than one device is accessing at the same time.

So yes, a dedicated server which accesses your NAS for content

Other than that plex is very easy to set up (you will need to pay for the tab/smartphone apps)
