Streaming from Win7 to XP

I have all my files on my pc upstairs and wanted to know if I could stream the media files to my pc downstairs which is running windows XP.

Woiuld I need aditional software and how would I go about it

Set up a shared folder in W7 for each location you want sharing. Set permissions for the shares (mine are set to everyone). You can also remove password validation if you want (useful if you are also sharing with stuff like a Wii)

Once done you can just navigate to the folders and double click and it'll stream the media.
